I think I have played Saphire actually. :) Should remember some of these... right now I'm journeying through Pokemon Black. Planning to start back at the beginning when I'm pretty much done with this, and trade old Pokemon from generation to generation as to really catch them all in every single game. I have pretty much the entire series, but only ever spent a LOT of time on Gold. So much remains!

Ah that's cool. All games or one from each gen? I'm finishing up Black and White at the moment, traded between them to get them all, bred and evolved all missing ones, but backtracking to actually get all the previous generation ones seems like a looooong road ahead... I'm moving on to the new ones first. Moon and Sun up next, then Platinum and Pearl. Let me know how it goes!
As for me I'm pretty only on NG but hey maybe you'll stop by occasionally. ;)
Up to Diamond and Pearl, but I'm considering to play Black and White (The game by Lionhead Studios always comes to mind) after what went wrong with Sword and Shield and why people like Gen 5.
Ah yeah I remember that one. XD Never played it though. FYI Pokemon Moon is turning out to be a great one too, some somewhat revolutionary changes, like how EXP Share affects the whole team (and can thus also be combined with lucky eggs), you can move large selections between boxes, there's a few shortcuts to attain/level up/breed, but lots of superficial things too, overall everything takes a lot longer to go through. Menus. Battles. Dialog. That stuff.
Haven't reached the Sword and Shield level yet though - what happened?
No national dex, bunch of lies by game freak, and a bunch of other content cut from previous games.
I'm tempted to run an emulator and create some Pokemon to catch 'em all with Black btw, not a fan of how you had to get certain event Pokemon (which were only available while the online features were available) to trigger at least one in-game Pokemon. Impossible to get 100% without it. Not ideal when it comes to collection/reward there. Hoping it's one of the anomalies.

Ah, well that sucks. About the cut content, at least, in regard to the national dex I'm somewhat happy they cut down on the numbers after Black. When they're all attainable via the game you play. No prerequisite prequels needed to import the ones you missed. Each game its own adventure. Plus the roster feels pretty balanced with Moon in particular - can't say about the others.
Feels like the best ones are still the old ones though, or their remakes. Just the right amounts. Fast menus. Everything felt easier even if the challenge and grind was so much greater.
